Dr. Metasebya Solomon

Dr. Solomon is an accomplished research scientist with demonstrated success in biomedical R&D and Master’s-level teaching. She worked in various medical device industries where she utilized her strong project management skills and capacity to work and interact in an interdisciplinary team allowed her to lead and manage Urology and Oncology related studies supporting new product development life cycle process and meet the projects’ goals. Dr. Solomon’s PhD focused on developing optical-nuclear imaging platform that will facilitate the next generation pre-clinical and clinical multimodal imaging for cancer diagnosis and therapy monitoring as well as pharmacokinetic analysis for determining the interaction of injected dyes or therapeutics with different organs in healthy and diseased states. As she clearly believes on an early foundation to the new generation intellectual development and exposure to the BME field as well as the establishment of solid infrastructure and institutions to tackle the lack of skilled biomedical engineers in Ethiopia; she initiated her involvement with the Center of BME, within Addis Ababa University as a guest lecturer in biomedical design skills education and mentoring of BME master students with the same standard as their US counterpart. Currently, Dr. Solomon is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of D-10 Therapeutics Inc., bridging her deep understanding of academic research with the healthcare research industry. She leads the strategic engagement with our academic and industry research collaborators for meaningful outcomes in Sickle Cell Disease research. Her aim is to achieve this by bringing the influences of real-world evidence in design solutions to improve treatment effects and outcomes. She earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin in Biomedical Engineering with digital applications focus.

dr.Nadine Sterling

Nadine Sterling is a research scientist, writer and mentor. She has conducted research at Stanford University School of Medicine investigating the physiological state of the placenta through monitoring maternal exosomes by the application of Mass Cytometry. During her time at Stanford she was awarded the Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA) where she was given support as a mentored postdoctoral scholar through her research experience at a teaching-intensive institution in an effort to become a more well-trained biomedical scientist. This award helped her develop with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue independent academic teaching and research career. Dr. Sterling also conducted research as a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Santa Barbara where she studied the interactions of native, recombinant and synthetic adhesive peptide thin films to metal-oxide surfaces as well as developing a pH-sensitive surface for the detection of pH changes during marine adhesive plaque formation underwater.

tiffany kang

Violinist Tiffany Kang made her solo debut with the San Fernando Valley Orchestra at age eleven and has since gone on to perform in Carnegie Weill Hall debut at age twelve as a winner of the American Protégé International Strings Competition. In 2013, Tiffany won third prize at the 2013 Schoenfeld International Competition and gave a recital at the American Jewish University’s Gindi Auditorium within the same year. She was also named a finalist of the Mondavi Young Artists Competition in 2011. More recently, Tiffany won the LACO-Colburn Conservatory Strings Mentorship Mock Audition in 2019 and performed a concert cycle with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Jaime Martín. As an avid lover of chamber music, Tiffany has had the privilege to collaborate with distinguished artists Frank Morelli at the Sarasota Opera House, and Scott St. John as part the Colburn Chamber Music Society’s Beethoven 250 series. Since beginning her bachelor studies in the Colburn Conservatory, Tiffany’s devotion to and appreciation for classical music also extends to Baroque music. Her studies while in the Colburn Baroque Ensemble has led her to join Kontrapunktus, a chamber orchestra dedicated to performing Baroque repertory. Born and raised in Southern California, Tiffany studied with Sam Fischer, Danielle Belen, the late Alice Schoenfeld, and Martin Beaver while in the Colburn CSPA and Academy. Tiffany is currently in her fourth year of bachelor studies at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, under the tutelage of Mr. Martin Beaver. During the pandemic, Tiffany has taken the greatest joy out of teaching young students just beginning to begin violin studies. She is focusing her efforts on building her studio and hoping to impart the same inspiration and love for classical music she received as a child.
